The Benelli M4 Super 90 is a semi-automatic shotgun made by the Italian firearms manufacturer Benelli Armi SpA. In 1998, the U.S military requested submissions for a semi-automatic combat shotgun and Benelli Armi SpA responded with the M4 Super 90 Combat Shotgun.
The M4 Super 90 is the first gas-operated shotgun made by Benelli as the function is designed around a new method: the “auto regulating gas operated” (ARGO) system. Along with this, it is self-regulating for using cartridges of different lengths and power levels. With adjustable sights, it can be used for conventional and night-vision sights and has a collapsible buttstock which shortens it by 8 inches. The M1014 is an M4, but carries a different name to signify military usage only.
